Sandy B is an international but South African based Kwaito music pioneer, Afro Pop and Deep House singer. This talented producer and singer started singing in front of a large audience at the age of six. At school
he was a member of the school choirs and never looked back. Sandy B is one artist who never disappoints when it comes to his vocal ability and experience in entertaining his fans. In the late 80's as a young boy he joined the recording Gospel group, The Living Voices. Later he was with The Young Olives.
They were popular with a lot of touring before he tried his solo career in the early 90's. The drummer Norris Tucker introduced him to Trevin Jenkins. With Trevan they formed Paradox in the early 90's. They toured night clubs until Trevin moved to London. Early 90’s saw the birth of Kwaito music. Sandy B's friends and some fans persuaded him to try Kwaito. He embracedthe idea since it was a style that was being introduced in SA by Joburg producers. Sandy B became the first Durban, KwaZulu Natal based artist to release a Kwaito album. That indeed makes him a legend and the only Kwaito pioneer for KwaZulu Natal artists who followed.
He was known for his hit Amajovi Jovi which was released in ‘95 in partnership with House Afrika Records owned by the legendary Tim White. He made a huge mark in the music industry and was given the title 'KZN Kwaito King' that did not go down well with him because he knew that Kwaito music was not what he was limited to. He is a singer who likes to touch people's hearts with his every golden voice. A true all rounder who can perform most types of genres. He released 5 albums dominated by Kwaito instead of Afro Pop, RnB and Soul, which are now genres he is most comfortable with. Lately he has been proving his abilities through his latest music. 2015 saw the release of one of his best albums titled Call Me Mr Jones and followed up with his 2017 release titled This Is Not Kwaito. This album has 13 Soulful House tracks and according to him, this is the best album he has ever done. Sandy B has collaborated with Ladysmith Black Mambazo, international Dancehall star Paulino YQ, Mthunzi Namba, Michael Ibo Cooper Third World, Dolly Rathebe, Joe Nina, Benzy and Mzeyks, Thukie, Tzozo, DJ Bongs, Dust, Msawawa, Ntokozo Masinga, and many others. He is one of the producers for the 1st Dj compilation album to sell double platinum in KZN by Dj Bongz, written music for films like I Wish I Was In Jail, AmaDoller, Bay Of Plenty, tried his luck in acting as he had cameo roles in Stander and AmaDoller. He worked on DBN Youth Radio, doing midnight shows on weekends and on Metro FM for a year doing KZN events guide live on air every Saturdays, Inanda Fm hosting a Reggae show for 2 years and on the biggest radio station in Africa Ukhozi Fm where he had a music business feature every Sundays, teaching the public about the ins outs in the music business. He has also been a columnist for Taxi News and News 24.
Today he is known to be one of the best and experienced Afro Pop and Deep House singers in Africa. His global hits are Djs favorites in all parties. Teaming up with Canadian based label Invinsible Sound who licenced his previous release AmaJovi Jovi for worldwide distribution has not only opened many more doors for Sandy B but like before, when a door is opened for him, he never shut it closed for other. Now his talent is being noticed even more by many global producers and Djs who want to work with him, especially in spreading old school Kwaito sound to the global market. For this, Sandy B is the right man to do it with. He recently performed in on of the biggest music festivals in Europe, Distortion Festival in Danmark and wowed the audience leaving them asking for more.
Apart from being an artist, he owns Mega Star World, a company that have assisted thousands of artists, very big and up coming, with services from CD manufacturing, marketing, distribution, events and more. Recently he hosted a multi Grammy Awards winner Cyril Neville from Neville Brothers and they staged on of the most successful shows in 2017.
